About the Role

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
 Form part of Team discussions around Safe
Declarations, Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks.
 Safe operating of machines in terms of the
Manufacturer’s directives, Standing Operating
Procedures and applicable sections of the
Company’s Health and Safety Policies and
Procedures.
 Conduct pre-inspection checks on machines before
operating them.
 Operate the machines in a responsible, productive
and safe manner.
 Comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Health
and Safety Policies and Procedures and Standard
Operating Procedures.
 Ensure the correct start-up and shut down of
machines.
 Ensure operating gauges are monitored during
operation.
 Ensure daily inspection of greasing points as part of
the pre-check.
 Ensure all moving parts are greased daily.
 Ensure good house-keeping of machines on a daily
basis.
 Ensure that machines are only used for their
intended purpose.
 Adhere to road signs and speed limits on the mine.
 Ensure compliance with prescribed lock-out
procedures during shift.
 Ensure that fire extinguisher is available and in
good working condition.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Grade 10 to 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification 

  • Certification of training and 5 years and more experience in operating the following machines: o Rigid/Dump Truck o Excavator o Front End Loader 

  • Dover Assessment Results  Code 8/10 Driver’s License 

  • Medically Fir for Duty

  • Basic Health and Safety Knowledge 

  • Operating Procedures Knowledge 

  • Machine Specification Knowledge 

  • Machine Maintenance Knowledge 

  • High Risk Area Operating Knowledge

being certified medically fit as per Mine Health and
Safety Act 29 of 1996 in mining vacancies.
